Mr. Butch is born.

(ca.) Born Harold Madison Jr., Mr. Butch arrives in Boston in approximately 1970 and becomes a well-known “street person” initially Kenmore Square, before moving to Harvard Square in the 1990s. A perennial winner of the Boston Phoenix Award for “Readers Pick: Favorite Neighborhood Character,” Mr. Butch is known for his good humor, offbeat personality, eventually has his own MySpace page and YouTube videos. He is killed when his motor scooter crashes into a pole on Brighton Avenue on July 12, 2007. A thousand people turn out for a parade in his honor along Harvard Street and Brighton Avenue a few days later.
